Showreel / the environment
The main sources of inspiration for the film are the artificial landscapes and industrial environment of East-Viru County, where both the nature and the people have undergone change. The action takes place in the large abandoned industrial complexes, which have gone out of business due to the economic recession, and in the buildings of the large industries that are still operating.
Showreel / people
The first part of the film has been recorded during this time when the employees of the thermal power plant have been planned a massive strike in companies.
Showreel / machinery
Visually, the environment and the machines, along with the rhythms they create, emphasize the massiveness of the artificial environment. The shots that link the film segments are comprised of abstract camera movements in the landscape and interior spaces, and sound clips comprised of industrial sounds. Sound plays a significant role in the film. Real sounds have been used that are combined with electronic sound (snatches of peoples’ conversations, industrial sounds, etc.).
The transitions between the film segments are smooth; sounds and shots of the landscape or interiors introduce each new character and help to make the short segments into an integrated whole.
